I wanted to exploit a juxtaposition that was forming — the compassionate act of repair for a soulful object set against the intrusive behaviours of the tools that performed it. I further explored and reflected on this style through designing more commercial style jewellery, making sure the hardware, and the accessories, were distinct subcollections, I decided the hardware would all be made from brass, and the jewellery would be solely made from silver, the metals chosen for their respective purposes, as brass is commonly used in functional metalwork while silver is a semi-precious metal that is most often used for jewellery products.
